The year before, Blizzard shut down a popular server from the past called WoTLK Gold which brought the game back to its original version. In the aftermath, Blizzard met with the team behind Nostralrius. The server's manager of projects said, at the meeting, the Blizzard team seemed to support having existing servers in the game.
Warlords of Draenor the next expansion to World of Warcraft, was just announced on Friday, but its follow-up is already working on, Blizzard tainment president Mike Morhaime said to Polygon in a new interview. Morhaime said the company is planning to increase the speed at which it releases new content for the MMO as a way to keep players coming back often.
"It's going to be up to us and our development team to continually look at ways to enhance the game to keep it current," Morhaime said. "And search for innovative ways to maintain engagement in the game. We see expansions as an excellent opportunity to do that.
"We recognize that we need to release them at a higher frequency than previously," he added. "So that's why we're investing more in the team and our resources to to do that."
Morhaime stated last week on the Activision Blizzard buy WoTLK Classic Gold earnings call that Blizzard has more resources committed in World of Warcraft now that it ever had before in the history of the franchise.
